Welcome and thank you for visiting the Internets leading Kratom authority, Kratom World. We built this site to offer the most up-to-date information about this rare and wonderful leaf from Thailand. Always keeping in mind what we like to read about when conducting out own Kratom research. We first heard about Kratom tea plants about 10 years ago and in all honesty I was skeptical in the beginning. But after preparing a spoonful of a quality kratom extract, I immediately became a huge fan. Within the following pages I hope you will find everything that you may need to know about Kratom, its extracts, tinctures, growing Kratom and more. If there is anything we've missed or you have any new information about Kratom, please email us.
For many years Kratom leaves have been used as a kind of natural relaxant (mainly by the people of Thailand and Southeast Asia). Rather than thinking of it as a harmful herb, it should be first and foremost thought of as an pain killing muscle relaxant. When people ask me about Kratom, I tell people that Kratom effects are like a natural prescription product. There is quite a bit of documented medicinal research into the use of Kratom as a sedative and a stimulant, Kratom pain killer, recreational drug, Kratom treatment for opiate addiction and medicine for diarrhea. Most of the research on Kratom is currently being done in Japan and Canada. Great for the everyday man, Kratom can even be used to increase the duration of sexual intercourse. It basically relaxes your arousal level, stopping you from ejaculating, but the good news is it doesn't affect your sexual libido. In fact some reports that Kratom increases sex drive and makes them last upwards of 50% longer in bef. Sex talk aside, traditionally the Kratom leaves were chewed by Thai workers, manual laborers and peasants to help them get through the long and strenuous day of working in the hot Sun. Kratom has offered them both a stimulating 'pick-me-up' and relaxing numbing effect. The perfect combination for the laborious day. Heavy Kratom users will sometimes chew on the Kratom leaves between 3 and 10 times daily and can chew 10-30+ leaves per day. New users only need a few leaves to obtain the desired effects.
Kratom is becoming increasingly popular elsewhere in the world; mainly Western Europe and North America with many forms of Kratom available on the marketplace including Kratom Leaf, Powder, super strain Maeng Da Kratom, Extracts, Resins, Capsules and Kratom plants. Stand by for the latest product - Vietnam Kratom. Amazing.
If you're looking to purchase Kratom we can recommend a couple of solid online vendors currently selling very high quality Kratom. Here are the Kratom vendors whom recommend and that I buy from myself:
Kratom PRO Both Arena and Kratom.Pro are based here in California, USA and offer competitive pricing and VERY fast shipping. I also have to say that their customer service is amazing, emails are typically responded to within a few hours. Arena Ethnobotanicals offers a wider selection of other herbs, but is a little bit more expensive on the Kratom range. We showed them both for a price comparison. I tend to buy from Kratom.Pro more often as I've tried Arena's products, they're fantastic, but Kratom.Pro seems to constantly offer better pricing.
Kratom (also known as Krathom, Ketum, Cratom, Kakuam, Ithang, Mitragyna Speciaosa and Thom) is a leafy green tree that is native to the Southeast Asia region of the World (Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, and elsewhere). Its Latin botanical name is Mitragyna speciosa. Kratom trees grow out in the wild in Southeast Asia, and in Thailand, however; strangely the consumption of the leaf has been made illegal. I've been lucky enough to visit a few of the countries where Kratom grows; my best Kratom tree description would be height between 3 & 40 meters depending on the age of the tree and birds eye view would show a circumference spread of over 15 feet. Now the leaves are big and beautiful, they are a glossy dark green color, very thick and extremely hardy. The biggest leaf I found was around 8 inches in length and 4.5 inches wide, the size of a fully-grown mans hand. All evergreen trees eventually will shed their leaves throughout the year with the shed leaves are replaced with new ones. This ensures there will be a regular supply for those who use the leaves as described in this site. If you plan on growing Kratom plants you make sure to give them a lot of attention and care. You should water and feed them regularly, they enjoy rich, fertile soil and plenty of sunlight, just like in their native habitat. There are two areas in the US where Kratom plants can be successfully grown outside all year round. These places are zone 10 climates and small pockets in Southern California and Southern Florida. Those that can enjoy this luxury should take advantage of growing a Kratom tree in your garden. This will supply you with a constant flow of fresh Kratom leaves and will make your garden look beautiful. If you're not in the climate zone 10, you can still grow plants, and they survive very well indoors, year round. We think they are beautiful to look at - so healthy.
If you're interested in the traditional use of Kratom, and most people are, locals would chew the fresh leaves straight from the tree. Western Kratom use and fancy super strains of Kratom extracts have become much more elaborate in the past few years. Kratom World has section on Kratom uses here.
The Kratom leaves or powder can be made into a form of tea (which is very bitter tasting), they can then be ingested (normally as extracts or powdered leaf would be) or even smoked (Kratom resin). A very hard resin extract which is readily available is made by boiling very large amounts of fresh leaves for several hours. The final extract is a dark brown, almost black tar like substance. When purchasing your Kratom Resin make sure that it is not too soft and gooey like taffy, this means that the moisture content is far too high. At room temperature the tar is non tacky but can be molded by hand into balls and washed down with some juice or dissolved in hot water. This is not only a traditional way of enjoying Kratom but a popular method for western society.
We've all seen Bali Kratom, Thai Kratom and Indo Kratom amongst a few, but there are two types of Kratom leaf - Green (or white) Vein and Red vein. The stronger of the two types of Kratom is the green vein however strength is not always the deciding factor. Some people enjoy the more energetic Kratom high while some enjoy a more sedated feeling. Thai users typically enjoy a mixture of both.
A very strange choice to make, but one we've heard Mothers say is - "I'd rather my daughter date a Kratom user than a pot smoker". This is probably because pot smokers are assumed to be lazy and Kratom users tend to be hard workers. Personally I'd rather my daughter stay away from both.
Kratom use dates back as far as it's regions documented history, hence its start can't truly be determined. We tend to guess that it dates back to when tribes first roamed this area of the world where Kratom grows. There isn't a single plant, tree or cactus that man hasn't eaten to see:
1: Does it taste nice?
2: Does it have any medicinal value?
3: Is it psychoactive?
4: Can it be smoked?
Kratom is most often used as an opium substitute, massively moderating opium addiction through a natural and organic method. It seems that opium addicts can typically use Kratom to help to overcome certain feelings and urges, cold-turkey and once the opium addiction is past, many continue to use Kratom due to its 'ceiling'. Many people are able to stop using Kratom over a brief amount of time and are free from any addiction. It's that easy. People have always added leaves of plants to hot water to make tea, basic fireside activity. The first person to make Kratom Tea will have discovered that the tea doesn't taste all that great, but the effects are truly amazing.
In Malaysia Kratom or ketum (as its known locally) is sold in towns and villages in small booths. They produce a kratom tea named Air Ketum (Kratom Water). This kratom tea preparation starts by boiling fresh leaves for a minimum of two hours and then rapidly cooled by placing the pot into cold water. This rapid cooling gives the Air Ketum a visually appealing chill haze and prevents the hot liquid from melting the plastic cups and burning the hands of the customers who buy kratom tea. According to reports, children as young as 13 buy Air Ketum on their lunch breaks and before school. A typical busy stall will sell some 200 to 300 drinks per day (that's 20+ kilos of fresh leaf boiled per day) - amazing !
In conclusion, we at Kratom-World hope that you've enjoyed our site and continue learning as we've done. Feedback is always welcomed and appreciated from Kratom fans of the world and remember if you have anything to add, please contact me. We're all in the same boat here... we are friendly loving people and love hearing from people with similar values and interests.
To protect the future of Kratom, we ask that you use it responsibly. The last thing we need is another Government banning it. We also encourage growing as many Kratom plants as possible, especially if you are located in Florida or California. Your plants can be planted in the ground and sure enough will grow into full-blown Kratom trees.
